Building Champions in Life!

Our School
Gracie Barra La Cañada Flintridge  was founded in 2014 by ADCC Champion and jiu-jitsu icon Orlando Sanchez, with the mission of bringing world-class Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to the La Cañada and Montrose communities. Since its opening, GBLCF has grown into the premier BJJ academy in the area, known for its welcoming environment, structured curriculum, and high-level instruction for all ages and experience levels.

Whether you're stepping onto the mats for the first time or preparing for your next competition, GBLCF is a place where discipline meets community, and students grow both on and off the mat. See why we’re the go-to destination for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in La Cañada, Montrose, and beyond.

GB Kids - Little Champs 1

Our Little Champs 1 program is the perfect entry point for young children beginning their Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu journey. Most students start around age 4, but kids as young as 3½ may join with coach approval based on maturity and readiness. This class is all about helping kids get comfortable on the mat—learning structure, routine, and how to train alongside other students in a fun and supportive setting. Through basic movements, body awareness drills, and BJJ-themed games (with no submissions), students develop coordination, listening skills, and confidence.

GB Kids - Little Champs 2 & Juniors

Our Little Champs 2 / Juniors program is designed for kids ages 7 to 13 who are ready to take on more technical training while still having fun. This class is the next step in a student’s jiu-jitsu journey, focused on building strong fundamentals, discipline, and confidence on the mat. Each session includes two techniques, structured drilling with partners, and live sparring (rolling) in a safe, supervised environment.

Kids Advanced and Competition Team

Our Kids Advanced Program is for students who have built a strong foundation and are ready for more technical and competitive training. Typically open to students with a grey-white belt or higher, or by professor approval, this program introduces more advanced positions, transitions, and strategy—preparing students for both higher-level training and competition. This program is ideal for kids who are passionate about jiu-jitsu, interested in competing, or simply looking to challenge themselves and grow at a higher level.

GB 1 - Adult and Teens Fundamentals

Our GB1 Fundamentals Program is the foundation of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at GBLCF, open to teens and adults ages 13 and up. Whether you're just starting or returning to training, this program offers a structured, beginner-friendly path to learning the core positions, movements, and techniques of BJJ. No-Gi options include Friday mornings and our Thursday evening Wrestling for BJJ class, focused on takedowns, control, and transitions without the gi, while still being accessible to new students. With multiple training times throughout the week, this program is ideal for anyone looking to build a solid jiu-jitsu foundation in a supportive, ego-free environment, regardless of age, athletic background, or experience.

GB2 - Advanced

Our GB2 Advanced Program is open to students ranked 3-stripe white belt and above. This program focuses on advanced positions, transitions, and strategies—building off the foundation learned in GB1 and preparing students for higher-level sparring and competition. Each session features in-depth technical instruction followed by five rounds of live sparring, allowing students to develop timing, pressure, and flow against fully resisting opponents.

GB 3 - Competition Team

The GB3 Competition Class is our most intense training block, built for active competitors and serious athletes. This 2-hour session includes full sparring rounds and specific training in both gi and nogi. This class focuses on match pacing, and conditioning, simulating the physical and mental demands of tournament performance.
